Small Bathroom Furniture Guide

The modern age has brought us smaller and more compact everything. Space has become a precious commodity and unfortunately that has spilled over into home sizes also. The bathroom tends to be the smallest room in a house, so storage space there is very limited. With proper placement of small bathroom furniture you can get the most out of this area without sacrificing style.

The average bathroom is about eight feet by ten feet. Then once you add the tub, sink and commode to this area, you are left with not much more than a walkway to go from one end to the other. With space at a premium here, only the necessities can be kept close at hand. This does not bode well for the average person who, ten minutes into a shower, realizes that all the clean towels are in the hallway linen closet.

By adding small bathroom furniture, you can increase the space, adding much needed additional storage. A well placed wall mounted linen cabinet not only keeps the towels and washcloths close at hand but can also accent the rest of the room beautifully. A small chest can be used for the same purpose and will also double as a seat if needed.

Many older homes have only a wall mounted sink, adding a vanity and sink combination here will add more cabinet space to the room without taking up much more space than the original sink alone. With plumbing fittings be placed generally at the same height, finding a vanity that fits the area should be easy.

When choosing small bathroom furniture there are a few things to keep in mind. Functionality, will it serve more than one purpose? Style, does it match with the rest of the room decor? Price, does this fit within my budget? With these three thoughts in mind, sprucing up your bathroom and making it more functional can be a fun and easy project.
